Hello
My name is Amanda Schaumburg and I am a speech-language pathologist in Texas that offers private and contract speech therapy & special education services locally (Panhandle of Texas) or virtually (anywhere in Texas). I have worked in school districts since 2009 (prek-12th) and also have experience in early childhood intervention, rehabs, and outpatient therapy clinics. I have served on Autism and Early Childhood Teams for districts and have extensive experience with the assessment and treatment of communication disorders. I am licensed by the State of Texas and certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association. I have a team of special education professionals for a variety of evaluation and therapy needs.

A little about me: I was born in Whitefish Montana (near Glacier National Park) but grew up most of my life in the Panhandle of Texas (Graduated from Pampa High School). I attended Hardin Simmons University for undergrad and got my Master's from West Texas A&M University. I am married and have 3 children.

Outside of my career, I enjoy volunteering and being involved in the community. I am a track and swimming coach for Special Olympics, I am on the Executive Board for Smiles for Speech (a 501c Non-Profit that provides therapy services to children in underserved communities), and I serve on the Board for a Local Tennis Association. When my children were younger I volunteered as a coach for Kids Inc, a leader for Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts, and was involved in Canyon ISD PTA.
Contract Special Education Services
Our services are ideal for small school districts or clinics that need part-time contracting services for special education therapy services (speech, occupational, and physical therapy). We also provide local schools/clinics with short-term PRN services to cover maternity leave or other extended leave. Having difficulty finding a new hire? Contract services are an excellent choice to fill the gap and stay compliant! Frequency of services will depend on the students' plan of care or IEP. The duration of the contract can be negotiated. We also conduct special education evaluations PRN (speech & language, psycho-educational, occupational/physical therapy, and psychological, and more).

Services:
-
Direct in-person or teletherapy services
-
Direct in-person or virtual evaluations (initial evaluations or re-evaluations)
-
In person class screenings for speech and language
-
In-person or virtual professional development for staff
-
Special Education Case Management (ARD/IEP documentation, annual meetings, progress reporting, timeline compliance, teacher collaboration, etc...)
-
Curriculum for your speech department (bulk discounts!)
-
Special Education Evaluation Team (we have contracted SLPs, LSSPs, and Diagnoticians available)

Teletherapy is our preference for direct therapy services that require weekly services outside of the Amarillo/Canyon city limits. Teletherapy has been proven to just as effective as in-person therapy and it saves your district/clinic travel time and costs for contract services. This would require a computer on-site with headphones/microphone/camera for the student to interact with me in a virtual platform that I provide. We can also participate in ARD/IEP meetings virtually to cut costs too. Most contracts will require an initial on-site visit (staff training included to get teletherapy set up) and most evaluations will be on-site/in person.

We provide therapy services for students with an active IEP or 504 plan.

Other Services
-
Supervision of CF: Did you hire a new graduate? They require a 9 month (1260 hour) Clinical Fellowship Year that requires supervision from a fully licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist. The minimum supervision requirements are 6 hours of on-site direct supervision and 6 hours of indirect supervision per segment (3 total segments). This typically can be done in two visits per 3-month segment and indirect services will be completed virtually/electronically. The total minimum amount of time: 18 hours of direct supervision and 18 hours of indirect supervision. Please note: if your CF needs more than the minimum, I will reach out and discuss options.
-
Supervision of an SLP-A (speech assistant): SLPAs can provide therapy for your district but require monthly direct supervision from a fully licensed/certified SLP. You would need to contract me as the primary Speech Pathologist for the caseload the SLPA is covering. SLPAs can not complete evaluations and that would be built in to the contract. SLPAs require a minimum 8 hours of supervision a month. Because of the amount of supervision required for this contract, I will only consider school districts/clinics within 100 miles of Amarillo, TX. I am also available to case manage the caseload at the campus the SLPA is assigned to. Case management includes: Scheduling ARDS, conducting ARDs, completing ARD paperwork, coordinating with teachers/administrators for speech only files. Working with the campus diagnostician for files that include multiple eligibilities.
-
Case management only: This would be ideal if you need someone to complete all of the paperwork and administrative duties only (no therapy services). We would schedule, conduct, and complete all ARD meetings/documentation. This would require the treating SLP to be in regular communication with us and access to your special education software program.
-
Curriculum: I create resources for speech therapy and special education. If your clinic/district is interested in a bulk order please reach out to me (my resources are individual licenses so bulk orders would be custom created for the number of therapists you have). I host my resources on an educator marketplace Teachers Pay Teachers, if your district/clinic does not have approval to purchase through TPT, please contact me for a custom invoice. www.shoppandaspeech.com
